4D ultrasound

Well as I told you last week, we got to see Allie on Monday in a 4D ultrasound.  It was very cool, and somewhat strange, watching her moving around in there and being able to see what she's doing.  It was late in the afternoon so she wasn't extremely active, but we still got some pretty good shots of her.  It was hard for them to get good shots of her face because she had her feet, yes her feet not her hands, in front of her face and would not move them, even after several nudges.  I know it's hard to tell this early on, but I personally think she looks like me :).  As far as they could tell, she didn't have any hair yet...which is also like me, I think I was bald until I was 2 or 3...poor Allie.

Here are a few of the pictures that we got, I know she still looks alien-like, but to us she's already the most beautiful girl in the world!

I think she has my lips...which means not much upper lip...maybe they'll plump up

She opened her eyes for us

And she's sticking her tongue out at daddy again, I think she's still got some beef with him over the whole boy/girl thing.

They also gave us a DVD of the whole ultrasound set to a Celine Dion soundtrack...very moving.

On another baby note, Lisa had her baby boy today!! He came in at 8 lbs 4 oz and mommy and baby are doing great.  I am so happy for them and can't wait to meet baby Cameron!

We are leaving for Chicago tonight and I am so excited!  Jeff is going for a work conference and I am just tagging along for my last hoorah before the baby. Should be a fun trip, I'll share pictures next week.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday weekend!

Don't judge...

Everyone keeps asking me if I've had any cravings and honestly I really haven't.  I guess I've 'craved' salty/garlicy foods but nothing specific.  That was until today.  My friend Heather has been talking about McDonald's new Rolo Mcflurry for weeks now and I've been dying to try it.  Well I woke up this morning thinking about it and I just couldn't get it off my mind.  Sooo...after lunch (yes I ate lunch too...but it was a small lunch...sort of), I took a little trip to mickey D's.

I have to say, it was everything I dreamed of and more, chocolately caramel heaven.  If you haven't had one, don't...you might get addicted.  And no McDonald's trip is complete without french fries so I topped it off with a small fry.  In my defense, it was the 'snack size' mcflurry which is just tiny, I mean seriously it's like one bite... and a small fry, which hardly tickles the taste buds.

Every pregnant girl is entitled to her cravings right???  Well I think so anyways, and I'm not going to lose any sleep over my indulgence...in fact, I feel pretty good about it.

Some exciting news...we get to see our baby girl on Monday!!  No, I'm not giving birth, that would just be terrifying at 31 weeks...but we have decided to do an elective 4D ultrasound because we are dying to see Allie one more time before she gets here.  I hear the 4D ultrasounds are pretty cool this far along in pregnancy so we are super excited about it!  I will share pictures on Monday or Tuesday...get excited!!

Happy hump day!

What is in a name?

Well it's official, our baby girl has a name...a full name that is.  If you attended Jennifer's wedding then you already know this because Jeff included it in his speech.  Her full name is going to be....wait for it....drum roll please...Allie Nicole Pitta.   After much thought and many hours spent going through names (Jeff even bought a baby name app on his iphone...that's an excited daddy right there!) we decided to name her after her aunt Jennifer Nicole.  Of course we wanted a name that sounded good with Allie, but more importantly we wanted it to have meaning and we wanted her to be named after someone that she could look up to.  So there you have it, Allie Nicole Pitta, our little princess.

I know I said I would put up pictures of the nursery and it's progress but after taking a picture of it's current state, I decided it wasn't quite ready for viewing.  So once I get it more presentable, I promise I'll post some pictures.

Last week the third trimester hit me pretty hard and I was feeling a little less than energetic and throw in some bad cases of heart burn and I just wasn't much fun to be around.  But after lots and lots of rest this weekend (big thanks to mother nature for the thunderstorms), I am happy to say that I am feeling much better today and this week is looking pretty promising.

Please keep my good friend Lisa in your prayers this week as she is expecting to deliver a beautiful baby boy, Cameron Andrew, any minute now.  At least I hope it's any minute now, the waiting is killing me.  Ok so I know it's not all about me and she's the one carrying the baby that doesn't want to come out, but I know it's killing her too :).  Lisa, we're thinking about you and Cameron and can't wait to meet the little man!

That's about all the news I have for today...and unfortunately, no pictures to share.  But I'll give you an updated belly pic later this week. The outy belly button is officially visible through clothing.  Some believe that you should put a band aid over it at this point...but my thoughts are, I'm the one carrying a child in my stomach and if it doesn't bother ME that my belly button sticks out, then it shouldn't bother anyone else either. I already have to wear pants with an elastic waste band, must I add a band aid to my everyday wardrobe too? Am I right or wrong?

Happy Monday everyone!

29 weeks

Vacation's go by WAY too fast!  I'm not quite ready to go back to the real world.  We had such a great time in Destin with lots of much needed relaxation and then lots of celebrating for the new bride & groom.  The wedding was amazing and Jennifer was such a gorgeous bride.  I could go on and on about how much fun we had and how great everything was, but I'll just share a few pictures of the week instead...
29 weeks...with my other baby, Kiki

Dinner in the Village

Bridesmaids Luncheon at Another Broken Egg

Rehearsal dinner on the Solaris...best rehearsal dinner idea ever!

The guests of honor

And I'm sure you're dying to see the beautiful bride....

Jeff & I at the wedding

The ceremony & reception were right on the bay with the most incredible view, as you can see in this picture.  Trish & Jenn put so much thought and work into this wedding and I really don't think it could have turned out more perfect.

And I'll end this post with a cute picture of Jeff trying unsuccessfully to catch a fish in the pond behind the condo...
And now it's back to reality :(.  I am off work today trying to get our lives back together at home and then tomorrow it's back to the grind!  I'll be 30 weeks on Thursday which means only 10 weeks to go!! I really can't believe how close we are to meeting our baby girl!  Allie has been very active lately and my rib cage is suffering because of it.  But even when it hurts, I still love to feel her moving around, it's such a crazy feeling that you just can't describe.

I hope you all had a great week/weekend!

TGIF

This morning I had my 28 week checkup which meant it was time for the gestational diabetes test and the dreaded 'juice' that you have to drink beforehand.   I was told it tasted like a melted freeze pop...bunch of liars.  It tasted more like very sugary orange soda. That may sound good to most of you, and I'll admit the first sip wasn't bad, but having to drink the whole bottle in 5 minutes made me gag (keep in mind this is coming from a girl who only drinks water).  So anyways, I made it through that alive and everything else checked out perfectly!  We'll know the results of the glucose test next week, keep your fingers crossed that I passed because I do NOT want to have to go back for the 3 hour long test...that just sounds miserable.

I came back to work and my boss had ordered lots of pizza for us so Allie & I chowed down and then after work we are getting on the road headed towards this

And this will be me for the next 10 days

So needless to say, it's a happy Friday for me!!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

28 weeks = 7 months

I made it to the 3rd trimester, whoo hoo!!!  Lucky for me, it's 97 degrees outside.  Seeing that I can hardly walk to my car without pouring sweat...I'd say this is going to be one LONG summer!

I hope you all had a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend.  We had a very busy one but it was a lot of fun.  We got to see lots of people that we haven't seen in awhile which was awesome and on Monday we got do my favorite thing in the whole world...boating!!  I did however get a little too much sun and I'm paying for it now (note to self...throw your sunscreen away after two years...it expires and no longer protects you from the sun....lesson learned).

This week Allie is now the size of a chinese cabbage (I've provided a picture for comparison for those of us that have no clue what a chinese cabbage is...not to be confused for regular cabbage which apparently is bigger).  She weighs about 2.5 pounds and she can now open and close her eyes, which now have eyelashes, hopefully like her daddy's.

Chinese cabbage a.k.a. Allie

She has been moving so much the past couple of weeks, I feel like she's awake 20 hours out of the day...even while I'm sleeping, which is unfortunate for me :).  But I love feeling her move around, it makes me smile.  Jeff doesn't like to let her sleep either. If she's not moving for him he likes to shake my belly until she kicks him (don't worry, we googled it, this is NOT harmful to the baby...and you should always trust google searches, right?).

Here's an updated picture of my ever growing bump.  It gets bigger everyday and I now officially have an 'outy.'

Allie's room is still a work in progress but I'll try to post some pictures of what we have so far.  I just really hope she loves the color purple as much as her mom does :).

We are leaving on Friday for a 10 day beach vacation...I can't remember the last time I had a 10 day vacation...I'm pretty sure it was never.  But a big thanks to my beautiful sister-in-law who decided to get married in Destin, FL! We are heading down early to work on our tans before the big day and to get some much needed rest and relaxation.  We are so excited for Jennifer & Mike and can't wait to celebrate with everyone!

Happy hump day!!
p.s. for those of you that have had trouble 'following' the blog, there is apparently a system wide problem with this feature so hopefully they'll get it cleared up soon.
