Had to show that cute ruffle bottom
She's great at sharing, she loves to give you her toys.
The wave
The two handed wave
As I posted last week, she is now crawling all over the place. She crawled on her knees for a day or two before she decided she wasn't a fan. Now she scoots with one knee and one foot on the ground, it's hard to explain and interesting to watch. She doesn't get anywhere fast this way, but I'm ok with that. She's very cautious, and she definitely understands the word "no" and actually obeys when we tell her no...I'm well aware that this might not last long. She has such a sweet but sometimes feisty personality, a perfect mix of mom & dad. She gets quiet around large groups, or people she's not familiar with, she's an observer and a people watcher...an unfortunate trait she got from both of her parents. But when she gets comfortable, she gets very chatty and loves to squeal. Jeff & Allie love having screaming matches, while it sounds annoying, it's actually pretty cute. Her favorite 'words' right now are mama, dadda, nana, and hi. She likes to say hi and wave, especially to herself in the mirror. She also loves looking at pictures of herself.
We haven't had to child proof anything yet, we probably should, but I'm procrastinating. She surprisingly doesn't get into much, and if she does she usually stops when we tell her no. Her favorite thing to get into though is the volume button on our surround sound. She loves turning it up and down. Lately she has been bypassing all mischief and crawling to her books and toy box instead. Books right now are her favorite. I keep them in several places so that she can always get to them when she wants, and that's usually the first thing she goes for. She loves to just sit there surrounded by books flipping through the pages. It's so sweet and cute! I see a scholarship in her future.
On a normal day she's taking two naps, one at 9:00 and the other between 3 and 4. Her afternoon naps often run into dinner time. Sometimes she wakes up from her nap, eats dinner, takes a bath and goes back to bed. She sleeps about 12 hours a night, which reminds me, I'd like to give a shout out to Huggies Overnight diapers. Thank you for doing what you advertise and actually providing 12 hours of leak guard protection. Knock on wood, this is the only diaper on the market that will hold in Allie's night time pee, and I hope it continues to work. I was about to lose my mind having to change her diaper, clothes, and sheets almost every night, usually in the wee hours of the morning. Thank you Huggies for saving my sanity.
She still loves the water (just not in her face, refer to yesterday's post), and bath time is her favorite. She crawls around the bath tub chasing after her rubber duckies.
That face cracks me up. I'm pretty sure I see this same face from her Daddy almost daily.
Going against all safety rules I've read in my books and online, I decided to put the bumper back into Allie's crib last week. She fell twice in one day and bumped her head trying to climb the rails. I figure she's old enough now that it shouldn't be an issue.
Allie has recently become very interested in Kiki. She waves to her, tries to talk to her, and then crawls over and tries to play with her. Kiki wants nothing to do with any of it. As soon as Allie gets close enough to touch, Kiki jumps up and walks away. Yesterday Kiki was standing by the front door waiting for Jeff to come inside and Allie crawled down the hallway and snuck up behind her. This is closest I'll ever get to getting a picture of Allie & Kiki together.
Allie then crawled to the door and tried to climb up so she could see Daddy.
And I think that's it for now. Happy hump day!
